Overview

Playa Las Glorias is a barrier beach facing the Gulf of California, in the municipality of Guasave, about 40 km south of the city of Guasave. The municipal government describes it as the busiest beach destination in north-central Sinaloa, reached by paved road.

The barrier gives its name to the neighbouring locality of Las Glorias and separates the open sea from the San Ignacio-Navachiste-Macapule lagoon system. Houses, hotels and RV grounds sit alongside the local inshore fishing.

Geography

The beach runs along a sand barrier that partly closes off the Bahía de Navachiste, next to the mouth of the Río Sinaloa at Boca del Río. On the landward side lies the coastal mangrove wetland of the San Ignacio-Navachiste-Macapule system, a Ramsar site since 2008.
